Review & Giveaway~ Maggie's Pure Land Soap Nuts

When I first started seeing soap nuts around the internet, I didn't pay that much attention. Then I read a couple of reviews. Soap nuts are actually the dried fruit of the Chinese Soapberry tree, and they have been used for thousands of years in India for laundry, personal grooming, pesticides, even medicine. Neat.

So when a representative of Maggie's Pure Land Soap Nuts contacted me asking if I'd like to do a review & giveaway for their company, I said yes. I got my samples via UPS today & went right to work.

From the site:

Simply put a few Soap Nuts into the included cotton sack and drop
it in your laundry. Your clothes come out clean, vibrant, and soft.
Replace your laboratory detergents and softeners with the soap
made from Nature by Nature. Your clothes, your skin, your family,
and your planet will thank you.

I opened the box of Maggie’s Soap Nuts & smelled them. Very light, vaguely sweet smell. There's a little cotton bag in the box. I put five soap nuts in the bag & threw it in my washer. The first thing I did was my bedding. The sheets & blankets came out looking pretty clean & smelling absolutely fresh. Very nice. Even nicer was how they came out of the dryer.

Holey Moley, Ravioli! My clothes are SO SOFT!!!!!!

No, seriously. I wish you could feel them. I did a load of towels, too, and they are just so incredibly soft. Really, really soft. Like bunnies.

OK, that's maybe an exaggeration. But, I think this may be the softest my laundry has ever been. (Plus, admit it, the bunnies made you smile.)

Soap nuts aren't just good for your laundry. They're also good for the environment.
From the site:
In suffering rural economies Soapberry
trees are cut down and sold as lumber
and firewood to feed hungry families.
Maggie’s Pure Land reserves the
Soapberry harvest years in advance,
providing families with guaranteed income
from living Soapberry trees.

Speaking of economy & income, let's talk price. Maggie's Soap Nuts is comparable in price to name brand laundry detergents. It doesn't cost more. I honestly expected it to, but nope. Just about the same price, and Maggie's Soap Nuts may actually cost a little less per load. Nice.

And now on to the truly fun part. The wonderful people at Maggie's Pure Land want you to try their product & find out the benefits for yourself! And you get to choose between either the soap nuts ~or~ the Lavender Tea Tree Liquid Soap! Yay! Oh, and I get to pick 5 winners! Double Yay!

Mandatory Entry: Visit Maggie's Pure Land & then come back here & tell me something you learned.
