Featured Blog of the Week~A Hen's Nest

A Hen's Nest

Please welcome our featured Blogger of the Week, Henrietta from A Hen's Nest.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself & your blog, A Hen's Nest?

Hello! Henrietta here from A Hen's Nest. My blog is like me, eclectic, random and a bit reserved until you get to know it! When you stop by for a visit you might find recipes, family photos, product reviews, giveaways, random ramblings or whatever else that my brain might find interesting at that moment.

How did you get started blogging?

I had absolutely no clue that there was a HUGE world of bloggers when I first started. I originally blogged under our Bonanzle user id, Dude&Chick, to help spread the word about our Bonanzle Booth. When I started looking around and noticing how fun, informative and seriously entertaining blogging could be, I decided to give it a whirl. I didn't even know about product reviews and giveaways until a few months later.

Any piece of advice you can offer a new blogger?

I've been blogging for about a year now and I still consider myself a newbie. As in any new hobby/pastime/passion you should never stop learning and seeking out the knowledge to improve upon what you already have. There are so many informational and tips blogs out there, if you need to know how to
create a blog button, change your layout or do something you like on another site then Google it! Follow a tutorial and learn it yourself! You'll feel a great sense of accomplishment that will boost your confidence and spur you on. You'll be putting in effort which will show in your blog.
A piece of advice that I need to listen to myself is to interact more with your blog. I don't mean by posting, although quality content is key. I mean interacting with your readers. Show you care by visiting their blogs, if they have one, leave them sincere comments or reply with a quick email thanking them for stopping by. Networking is also a great way to learn. Join social groups, nings and forums that follow your interests. You'll get ideas for posts, feel like you're putting down blog roots in the community and just enjoy the company of others that are just doing what they love: Blogging!

Any thoughts on giveaways?

I can't stress enough the importance of following the rules. Each giveaway blogger has their own, they may be different from ones you're used to. Make sure you're doing the mandatory entry so that all of your extra entries don't get disqualified, you don't want to waste your time or the host's time! Honestly I haven't been winning much because I haven't had the time to enter so I'm not much help here ;) I guess the best thing to do is to just have fun and don't expect anything, that way when you do win, it truly feels like a gift.

Thanks, Henrietta, for being here today!

My thoughts on A Hen's Nest:
In interest of full disclosure, Henrietta is my sister IRL, so I may not have an entirely unbiased opinion of A Hen's Nest :P
I invite you all to go check out A Hen's Nest, read a few recipes, enter a giveaway or two, maybe leave a comment saying Hi.
